Home>NEW PLAYGROUNDS FOR SOUTHERN GRAMPIANS
| 20 October 2009 | | Southern Grampians Shire Council has recently replaced four Playgrounds in the Shire courtesy of the Australian Government Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program (RLCIP) which is part of the Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan.
Council has installed new playgrounds at the Balmoral Recreation Reserve, the Cavendish Recreation Reserve, the Glenthompson Lions Park and the Hamilton Botanic Gardens as part of the RLCIP program designed by the Australian Government to enable local councils to stimulate additional growth and economic activity in Australia as part of the Australian Government’s contribution to address the global financial crisis.
The new playgrounds were delivered by Adventure Playgrounds Pty Ltd, which will allow children of all abilities to experience elements of play including sensory, motor, imaginative and educational.
The relevant local communities had input into the design of the playgrounds with extensive consultation occurring in each location with community members.
This project has delivered some real benefits to children of all abilities and their families in the local community and together with the design and consultation phase represents an outstanding example of building community capacity and meeting local needs.
Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Cr Marcus Rentsch said, “Council is extremely pleased that these new playgrounds have been installed in time for the upcoming warmer months and I know that children of all abilities from across the Shire will enjoy these outstanding new playgrounds for many years to come.” | |
